Launched in 2015, the Karim Khan Afridi Welfare Foundation (KKAWF) is a civil society foundation working for youth empowerment with a mission to raise awareness and to educate the young populations on the harms of drug use. Since its inception, KKAWF has been dedicated to preventing drug abuse and raising awareness about the devastating effects it has on individuals, families, and communities.
It implements its drug prevention education programmes under its five pillars of  1) drug prevention/awareness, 2) sports is the answer, 3) environment, 4) arts and culture and 5) civic sense to educate the youth of Pakistan with better knowledge to make informed decisions, ultimately leading to a healthier and drug-free society.

Our programs include:

  • Drug Awareness Weeks & Sessions in schools and colleges for students and teacher trainings.
  • Life-Skills Education Programmes for Students/Teachers.
  • School Curriculum & Counselling Services.
  • Sports is the answer: provides a platform for youth to volunteer at KKAWF sports events to hone their skills for advocacy and leadership.
  • Environmental Awareness activities like Keep Korang Clean to raise awareness on water pollution.
  • Arts & Culture and Civic Sense form part of school drug weeks programmes.
  • KKAWF Youth Ambassadors. A cadre of volunteers who serve as youth ambassadors to raise awareness on drug use and harm it brings in educational institutions and communities.

KKAWF prioritizes engaging with youth in educational institutions between ages 12-15 years and older adolescents in educational institutions to provide them with the evidenced based-knowledge and skills to become agents of change in their communities, advocating for drug prevention initiatives. Investing in evidence-based Prevention Strategies is now recognized by the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime UNODC and the civil society Declaration of Oviedo – a global initiative on drug use prevention as the most expedient strategy to effectively address the unprecedented rise in drug use.
Due to the alarming rise even among pre-teens in educational institutions in Pakistan. KKAWF believes in implementing Early Prevention programmes among youth to help them make healthy life choices and build a better future. KKAWF’s goal is to keep children and young people away from drugs.
KKAWF plays an active advocacy role to promote implementation of Prevention strategies in policy making at national and international levels It is actively engaged in outreach nationally /internationally to policy makers, UN agencies, International organisations. government agencies, educational institutions, civil society groups, youth and communities. It has build partnerships worldwide with leading CSOs engaged in achieving a drug free future.
